Man Fatally Shot at 8-Year-Old Son's Funeral; Suspect Held

A 26-year-old father,Jeramie Shorter, has been shot dead in Iowa while he was attending his eight-year-old son\u00e2\u0080\u0099s funeral after the little boy died following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jeramie Shorter was shot in the parking lot outside the Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport in eastern Iowa.

Shorter, who had a total of 17 children, died in hospital shortly after.

Police have since charged 24-year-old Nuemonei Tre Vonne Laster over the fatal shooting.

Laster appeared in court Sunday on charges of first-degree murder, eluding, being felon in possession of a firearm and interference with a weapon. He is being held on a $300,000 cash bond.
