Florida teacher arrested for spraying disinfectant on students
Christina Reszetar, 51, who has been a teacher for 21 years, was arrested and faces four charges of child abuse.
Police were called to Largo High School in Largo, Florida, at which point police said Reszetar told them that four of her students had refused to properly wear face masks - meant to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
After their refusal, she allegedly sprayed an aerosol disinfectant 'into the path of their faces and bodies.'
The incident was supposedly caught by video cameras.
Reszetar spent the night in jail and appeared before a judge Thursday.
She told the judge on January 7 that she's a Learning Disabled Math teacher at Largo High School, where she taught for 18 years, and said that video of the incident will prove that the claims against her aren't true.
The Claire disinfectant spray that Reszetar allegedly sprayed at the children was not provided to her by the school, the district said.
Reszetar's neighbor told the news station that while she didn't think Reszetar's alleged act was appropriate, the arrest was excessive and that 'teachers have to be under a lot of pressure right now with the virus.'
