Florida man arrested in connection to roommate's murder

Scott Sanders, 50, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of James Newlyn Trent, 60.

During a wellness check on Trent, Sanders answered but wouldn\u00e2\u0080\u0099t give a clear answer about where Trent was. The woman called authorities for assistance but Sanders wouldn\u00e2\u0080\u0099t answer so they had to leave until the property manager could come to open the door.

Between the time police left and came back, Sanders was seen taking a trash bag to the dumpster.

According to the affidavit, there were bloodstains on the floor, a pile of bloody blankets and sheets in the bedroom and within that, there was \u00e2\u0080\u009cthe top of a human head that was extremely bloody.\u00e2\u0080\u009d

In an arrest report, investigators said Sanders told them was mad at the victim and \"thought about killing the victim because he was clicking a lighter.\" The victim clicked the lighter again and Sanders told investigators that he \"'snapped' and killed the victim.\"\n
