Salem, Oregon police arrest man suspected of trying to abduct baristas at two coffee stands

The Salem Police SWAT team arrested Christopher Santibanez, 39, at his home early Saturday morning.

His arrest comes one week after Santibanez allegedly approached two different coffee stands, brandished a handgun and demanded the female employees leave with him.

Police called out to both locations but were not able to find the suspect.

A third coffee stand later reported a similar man attempting to gain entry into their business on the same day as the attempted abductions.

After releasing a surveillance photo of the man, Salem police received numerous tips identifying Santibanez as the suspect.

Santibanez, a conviction felon and former resident of Salem, previously served aprison sentence after being convicted of first-degree robbery in Polk County in 2009.

He also was convicted of vehicle theft in 2003, fleeing police and reckless endangerment in 2002 and criminal mischief in 2001.
