Florida man arrested after spray painting 'I can't breathe' on 100 stop signs

The Port Orange Police Department received reports of several signs across the city that were spray painted with the words \u00e2\u0080\u009cracism\u00e2\u0080\u009d or \u00e2\u0080\u009cI can\u00e2\u0080\u0099t breathe\u00e2\u0080\u009d under the word \u00e2\u0080\u009cstop,\u00e2\u0080\u009d resulting in $12,500 worth of damage, according to an arrest affidavit.

Authorities were able to identify Kato through surveillance footage of multiple areas where the vandalism occurred.

Officers arrived at Kato\u00e2\u0080\u0099s home Friday and discovered a receipt for spray paint, stencils and other evidence.

After, an officer discovered paint cans in Kato\u00e2\u0080\u0099s trash, which led Kato to say: \u00e2\u0080\u009c(Expletive), (expletive) digging through my trash. I did not take the trash out this morning, (expletive). You petty (expletive), bro. (Expletive) man, ah homeboy just (expletive) walked through with that in his hand digging through the (expletive) garbage. I\u00e2\u0080\u0099m (expletive) now.\u00e2\u0080\u009d

As officers searched his home, Kato continued talking: \u00e2\u0080\u009cYou can lock me up and throw away the key. (Expletive) racism, (expletive) white power. I\u00e2\u0080\u0099ll scream it \u00e2\u0080\u0099til the day I die. I want to see a judge and jury tell me that speaking out against (expletive) racism is wrong. (Expletive) that (expletive). I don\u00e2\u0080\u0099t give a (expletive) what happens.\u00e2\u0080\u009d

According to reports, Kato said, \u00e2\u0080\u009cHe was not ashamed of what he did and he was sick of cops killing people.\u00e2\u0080\u009d He is charged with felony criminal mischief.
