Kansas man and his girlfriend charged with murdering 3-year-old

Olivia\u00e2\u0080\u0099s father, Howard Jansen III, walked into the KCK Police Department on Friday morning and reported that his 3-year-old daughter Olivia Jansen was missing.

KCK police said Olivia\u00e2\u0080\u0099s body was found Friday after police got a tip about a body near a trail. The area is just on the other side of Interstate 635 from where police searched most of the day.

On Sunday, the Wyandotte County District Attorney\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Office announced that both Howard J. Jansen III and Jacqulyn A. Kirkpatrick have been formally charged with murder in connection with the death of 3-year-old Olivia Jansen.

Both are facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, and criminal desecration.

The desecration charge stems from \u00e2\u0080\u009cunlawfully and knowingly obtain[ing] unauthorized control of a dead body.\u00e2\u0080\u009d
