Repeat offender arrested for recording hundreds of women in bathroom stalls \n \nSteve Edward Callen, 34, was located by officers at the Overlook Apartments in Layton on June 8, where a specific residence was protected for stalking against the 34 year old.
Callen admitted to trespassing. He then offered to prove to officers that he had not committed any crimes by showing them the camera roll on his phone.
Officers reported finding voyeuristic videos from unknown locations featuring unidentified people. Callen claimed he had downloaded the videos.
Court documents state that one video began with Callen's face as he started the recording, then placed the phone under a divider into another bathroom stall where a woman was standing. The woman, without knowledge of the camera, lowered her pants and sat on the toilet. Police say the video continued until the woman finished in the restroom.
Officers found a second video that showed a similar incident, but with a different woman.
After discovering these recordings, officers seized Callen's phone and released him.
A warrant was drafted for the phone and an officer examined the data from the extraction.
Court documents state hundreds of videos and images of numerous unidentified women as they used the bathroom, all with the same format as the first video, were found. Three children were also seen in the videos.
Callen was arrested on for three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of voyeurism by electronic equipment and failure to register as a sex offender.
Callen has criminal history related to his activity at the Overlook Apartment Complex.
