54-year-old man arrested in connection with downtown Phoenix fire

On Friday night, Phoenix police say 54-year-old Ted Hopkins was arrested and is suspected of setting an apartment structure on fire on June 7.

The task force, along with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have spent the past week processing the scene.

According to police and fire, they found enough evidence to redirect the investigation into an arson investigation which led to Hopkins arrest.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Ted Hopkins, 54, was arrested Friday night and booked into the Maricopa County Jail for one count of arson of an occupied structure, criminal damage, weapons violation and endangerment.
