Orange County police have now charged Gladys Ambert\u00e2\u0080\u0099s aunt and cousins - Nellie Ambert, 55, Jasmine Ambert, 32, and Christian Matias, 18 - over her death.

A security guard discovered the discarded body of Gladys Ambert on April 7, which was wrapped in a pink blanket and dumped by a roadway, the Orange County Sheriff\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Department said in a Tuesday statement. Her body was found on her 27th birthday.

She was \u00e2\u0080\u009cdeaf, could not speak, and had cerebral palsy,\u00e2\u0080\u009d the sheriff\u00e2\u0080\u0099s department stated. While she lived with relatives who were supposed to care for her, they are now all accused of contributing to her death.

They said when her grandmother died in July, Ambert came to live with her aunt and cousins in Orange County.

\u00e2\u0080\u009cThere were tons of new and old marks on her belly, marks on her ankles, marks on her wrist, marks on her arms,\u00e2\u0080\u009d Orange County Detective Joe Covelli said. \u00e2\u0080\u009cThese were disgusting crimes committed against a person who could not take care of (herself).\u00e2\u0080\u009d

Cavelli claimed that the mother and her two adult children repeatedly lied to investigators about the situation, alleging they faked shock and cried crocodile tears when they found out their relative's body was found.

\u00e2\u0080\u009cThey put on a great show,\u00e2\u0080\u009d Cavelli said.

The family eventually admitted to tying her up, beating her, and neglecting her for months, Cavelli claimed. Then, they allegedly admitted to finding her unresponsive while tied up in a bathroom the day before she was reported missing \u00e2\u0080\u0094 also expressing frustration at how much care Gladys needed. The family also admitted to dumping her body on the roadside, according to Cavelli.

An autopsy showed that Ambert died of \u00e2\u0080\u009casphyxia by restraint compression to the abdomen,\u00e2\u0080\u009d according to the Orlando Sentinel.
