At 3:19 a.m., Ethan Hunsaker, 24, called dispatch \u00e2\u0080\u009creporting having killed a person inside his residence\u00e2\u0080\u009d.
Authorities identified the victim as Ashlyn Black of Layton on Monday. Black was 25-years-old.
During the initial call, Hunsaker said he he \u00e2\u0080\u0098did not know\u00e2\u0080\u0099 the person he had just killed, but had met the victim on an application called Tinder \u00e2\u0080\u0094 but reported he did it 10 minutes before making the call.
When officers went to the home, Hunsaker \u00e2\u0080\u009ccontinued to tell officers to shoot him,\u00e2\u0080\u009d according to the affidavit.
Officers \u00e2\u0080\u009clocated a female lying on the floor of the home, having sustained multiple stab wounds to the torso. Despite efforts to revive the victim, she was pronounced deceased on scene,\u00e2\u0080\u009d police said. A knife was found near her body.
After being taken into custody, Hunsaker described how he met the victim. The two met on the social dating app Tinder, and they planned to meet for drinks at a local bar. Both Hunsaker and the woman paid for their own drinks.
The two went to Hunsaker\u00e2\u0080\u0099s residence, where they fell asleep. Hunsaker woke up with the woman resting on his arm \u00e2\u0080\u0094 then he began to choke her.
Black attempted to fight back resulting in marks on Hunsaker\u00e2\u0080\u0099s arms, neck and shoulders.
Hunsaker admitted to officers he had killed the woman by choking her \u00e2\u0080\u009cas hard as he could for about one minute,\u00e2\u0080\u009d according to the police\u00e2\u0080\u0099s probable cause statement. After that, he went downstairs to retrieve a knife from the kitchen and began stabbing her.
Police report Hunsaker admitted to stabbing her \u00e2\u0080\u009cmore than five times, but no more than 10 times,\u00e2\u0080\u009d according to the statement.
Hunsaker was booked into the Davis County Jail on one count of Murder, a 1st degree felony.">
