18-month-old boy dies in hospital after police say mother drove into a pond

Police say 28-year-old Brittanie Mae Miloshevsky drove the vehicle into a pond at \"Golf in the Round\" late Sunday night with her 18-month-old son strapped in a car seat.

The first arriving officer found Miloshevsky \u00e2\u0080\u009cpassed out near a fence on the golf course,\u00e2\u0080\u009d according to a police affidavit. \u00e2\u0080\u009c(She) was lying on the ground and appeared to be trying to sleep.\u00e2\u0080\u009d

Miloshevsky admitted she had been drinking and had driven to the golf course, according to police.

\u00e2\u0080\u009cOfficers searched the area and located the car submerged in a pond near 700 W. 3300 South. Officers checked the car and located a small child submerged in the vehicle. The child was submerged for a substantial period of time in cold water,\u00e2\u0080\u009d the affidavit states. \u00e2\u0080\u009c(Miloshevsky\u00e2\u0080\u0099s) clothing is completely soaked with water and it appears she was in the vehicle at the time it went into the water.\u00e2\u0080\u009d

Officers jumped in the water to rescue a boy, who was 18-months-old. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

In addition to child abuse homicide, Miloshevsky was also arrested for investigation of DUI resulting in serious injury, child endangerment and criminal mischief.
