2 arrested in death of 21-year-old in drug deal gone bad

A year-long Putnam County homicide investigation has resulted in the arrest of two men in the shooting death of an Interlachen man found dead after hanging onto the suspects\u00e2\u0080\u0099 fleeing car and falling.

Tre\u00e2\u0080\u0099monte \u00e2\u0080\u009cTrey\u00e2\u0080\u009d Edward Hargrove, 25, of Ohio, and Decarius Dominique Howell, 21, of Ocala are charged with killing 21-year-old Kody O\u00e2\u0080\u0099Hara on May 24, 2019.

Witnesses told detectives O\u00e2\u0080\u0099Hara was supposed to meet and sell drugs to a person named \u00e2\u0080\u009cTrey.\u00e2\u0080\u009d O\u00e2\u0080\u0099Hara then met with four people in a car parked at Matchett Gas on Florida 20, when the vehicle began driving off while O\u00e2\u0080\u0099Hara was holding onto the door, DeLoach said.

He said the vehicle then pulled from the parking area and onto the road at a high rate of speed. Witnesses said they saw O\u00e2\u0080\u0099Hara fall from the vehicle, and he was found dead. It was later determined he had been shot.

Two other suspects are under investigation but are not being identified, the sheriff said.
