Colorado man arrested for allegedly stabbing own dog to death while on drugs
At 2:17 a.m. on March 2, 2020, Fort Collins Police responded to a residential disturbance. Officers learned that one of the residents, Aaron La Guardia (DOB 04/20/84), was reportedly under the influence of illegal drugs and had stabbed his dog and physically assaulted a male victim. All people in the home were able to safely exit before police arrived, and La Guardia remained inside. Officers contacted the suspect via phone and ultimately convinced him to come out. La Guardia was safely taken into custody and booked into the Larimer County Jail. The male victim was not injured. Sadly, the animal did not survive the incident.
La Guardia faces charges of Third Degree Assault (class 3 misdemeanor), Felony Menacing (class 4 felony), First Degree Burglary (class 3 felony), and Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (class 6 felony).
